Tell me if my camera is up to snuff with the majority of youo DPCers?click here to see reviewthat is if anyone will critique my camera?

if you look at the profiles, people here have cameras ranging from 0.3 megapixel automatic cameras, to 6 megapixel (or more) fully manually adjustable cameras.. there's no real minimum camera you need to have fun here.. just do you best with what you have and enjoy yourself :)

I just bought a Canon Powershot G3, so I've been looking at cameras, reviews, features, etc. I like the user reviews in epinions.com -- here they are for your camera: //www.epinions.com/Minolta_Dimage_s404_Cameras/display_~reviews

The other thing I did when I looking at cameras was write some people from this site who had cameras I was interested in to see what their pros and cons were, and I looked very closely at the photos that were taken from various cameras (under the "Learn" tab on the menu). It appears that 18 people who have registered on this website have this camera, so you can write them and look at the photos they've taken.

I'm not quite sure, though, what you mean by "up to snuff" -- seems to me that whether a camera is "up to snuff" is determined by the photographer using it.

If you're happy with the feel of the camera, the features on the camera, and the photos you're getting, I would think you could deem the camera "up to snuff."

You can also click your camera name (or just follow this link for yours) to see info about that camera as well as actual DPC submissions taken with your camera. You're in pretty good company.

Clicking on the Camera under your username shows some stats about your camera for this site. Resolution wise it looks fine, and 18 others are using (or at least own) the same camera.

It's best photo's include a 9th and 12th place in very large challenges (9th out of ~230). Therefore I'd say it's fairly capable.

I guess the question is more along the lines of:

1) Does the camera perform well in the situations you use it (perhaps low light, etc)?

2) Does the camera offer the level of manual control (or automation) you prefer to work with?
