Just got the chance to go to new york for spring break. I went to the musuem of modern art on the second day and was so impressed by the architecture that I had to return with my tripod on the last day. I would very much appreciate any comments you may have to offer. Hope you like!

I will gladly give you a critique, just remember, it is worth what you pay for it;)

#1 is a wonderful architectural shot, the lines of the arches are great and the subtle lighting make this very artactive to the eye.

#2 is OK, but to me, there is no context and the image is not a really strong image in and of itself.

#3 is just wonderful, the colors and solitary figure and the interplay of the shadows really make this very nice. I think it s by far the most interesting of the five photos.

#4 is OK, but the colors are a bit drab.

#5 is right behind #3 as far as interesting, the added element of the man in the photo is a very nice touch. The angle of the ceiling is very interesting. the onbly negative is the horizon seems a bit slanted.

Some nice photos, thanks for sharing them. I would love to make it to NYC some day and have the opportunity to visit some places like this.

3 is spectacular. It truly captures that certain Museum solitude when not overcrowded and that sense of grand size is well stated too.

very nice image

The third picture nails it on nearly every level. My preference order is 3, 5, 2, 1, 4. But honestly they are all well done and unique. You matched the need for smoothness and sharpness, clarity and expanse. But we could all learn a thing or two from the third picture.

isnt that first picture from the Metropolitan Museum and not the museum of modern art?

I think that number two and three are great. My favorite is number two. I think it is simple and beautiful architectural shot and number three does convey the open, empty, serene, feeling of the museum.

Number one is a bit busy for my taste. I am generally not much of a fan of photography of sculpture - It really feels like taking a picture of a painting to me, so I am not the best judge on that one. The last photo seems to have two equal and competing subjects in the architecture of the ceiling and the man viewing the art. I think you would need to minimize one or the other to make this shot work well.

Again, I really like number 2. I think it is beautiful. :)

I know this has nothing to do with this topic, but how the hech do you post a new thread? Do I need to be a member?

David - I left a comment on number three, which I agree is the strongest of these five.

Mulder - I PMed you with instructions, so as not to take David's thread off course. :)
