I took this shot today and of course the result is overexposed. I love the expression and am looking for some photoshop expertise in trying to make this image a worthwhile print...
My amateur attempt resulted in this...
But I know the results could be better.
Please help.

Here's my take...
Edits:
Really just curves adjustment on selections. First a highly feathered selection on the BG, darken it, then invert selection and increase contrast on the tiger. A touch of USM, and increased contrast and saturation on the eyes. A final tweak to contrast on the body of hte tiger, and save.

Edits:
USM, Crop, Color balance, Brightness and Contrast, levels and Hue/Saturation. I'm still a beginner in PS, but I did what I could. BTW, Nice Picture!

To me the background was more of a problem than the tiger. Now remember this was working on the 640px image so it is no where near as accurate as working on the full size image. I removed the background and did a curves/contrast adjustment.
Edit: I upp'd the saturation on the eyes to try and match Kirbic's 'hypnotic stare' just for Beetle! Not sure it's quite there, though.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to work on this shot...I really like the colours in moodville's version and with your commments will play around some more until I get excited about my result.
