I just bought a Canon EF-S 10-22 from B&H and I'm receiving results that are looking too soft on the left hand side.

I know perspective/FOV alters the images from super-wide angles, but I can't find any real-world full size images to compare against.

I've uploaded some full size images as examples.

Mostly ok:

Slightly softer on left hand side:

A LOT softer on the left hand side:

If anyone can confirm if they get similar results with their copy, or can offer any optical reasoning that would be great. Otherwise it's looking like I'm going to have to ship it back to B&H or a Canon service centre. :-(

wow - i would not be too happy with that personally - the fringing is worse the 18-55mm EFS..

i think even with the spherical distortion of wide angle you should still get sharp results at the edges.

Quite. :-)

Is there anyone with an 10-22 that can compare results?

I've borrowed chiqui74's occasionally on our photoshoots, and not noticed any real problems with it:
