Paid 389 $,can't afford Canon 24-70 L (arm $leg $$$)

whats the filter thread size ?

Focuses very fast and is very light and compact.Filter is 77 mm.

As you say, it does look very sharp. It's in about the same range for zoom, aperture and price as the Tamron 28-75. What made you choose the Sigma?

24 mm is equal t o 38 mm film on my Rebel,compare to 28 mm which is 45 mm on Tamron,not wide enough for me :-)

No fair. A pretty girl like that makes any shot look nice.

This lens looks like a good value. One day I will have to replace my 18-70/3.5-4.5 with a faster all-purpose walkaround lens. The 17-55/2.8 is too pricey for me so I am going to try and find something in the Sigma EX line to upgrade to. I have the EX 105/2.8 macro lens and it's a terrific quality lens...good build.

Do you, by chance, have any shots in low lighting? I'm actually considering a similar lens for my D100...
