I just wanted to make the general (and probably obvious) observation that members of this site seem to submit the most creative and inspired images when the challenge is something creative and inspiring. These topics tend to include ones related to photographic techniques, interesting objects or concepts, or those relating to a positive emotion.

On the other hand, it seems that people are not inspired and do not produce their best work when the challenge relates to an uninspiring negative emotion. Not that taking photos that depict negative emotion is bad --some of the best photos I've ever seen do just that-- but I do not think that this type of challenge inspires the best results on this site.

I just wanted to voice this opinion and to request that the challenge topics be selected on the basis of whether or not they can inspire the best photographic and creative efforts of this site's membership. Thanks! :-)

I totally agree. I think an open-ended topic like that will be inspiring.

I'd also like to add, though not in the way of backpedaling ;-) that the Site Council here is simply amazing and I have appreciated all of their efforts and 98% of the challenge topics. That's a pretty good approval rating. :-)

In the beginning will bring out some cool imaginative stuff, including such wonders as DPC all time 14th worst scoring photo (2.207), titled "In the Beginning", by Togtog, from August 17, 2003.

Let it be know to those quirky-murky minds that all black (absence of light) has been done already, and it sits pretty in the all time worst scores, including 5 of the bottom 20 worst scores.
