My DSL is $36 USD per month right now, with 3Mb/s down, 512kb/s up. That's an upgrade from basic, which is $26 for 1.5Mb/384kb. That's DSL with SBC. There service has been great, 'cept for their recent move to offshore tech support.
Time Warner Roadrunner is actually a slightly better deal, they are about the ssme price with 4Mb/s down, ??? up. Their service is quite good as well.

I find DPC to be terribly slow and I do have cable.
I could be wrong but my assumption is that their server is being beaten to death by that "update" button or just plain, heavy use passing around large picture files. |

For the last week I have been experiencing the same thing. Slow page loading a slow picture loading. I have check my speed at dslreports and I running a excellent 2900+/364. And my milliseconds are averaging 12ms. Can't ask for any better than than. I have pinged dpc and the TTL falls from 250 which is good to 50 which would show a slow site access. The milliseconds have also risen from a average of 12 to an average of 38ms. Three times slower which would cause timeouts in the real world.
If I do a tracert in DS mode it appears that my weakest link is [ pop1-nyc-fe-2-1.gtdn.net [207.99.73.90]. There ms rating are twice as high as other route's beyond.
So it seems to me the way you are routed to dpchallenge.
