I'm working on some portraiture pieces and would appreciate some comments, tips, etc. These are photos of tsunami survivors from Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, dated early March. Thanks.

Some great shots overall.

This guy has a haunted look.

The light over there is very yellow. It must be great for outdoor photography.

I like the top picture the best.

It's really hard to critique such images, because they carry a fragile story that touches everyone. They tell their tale. But if I were to critique them on an objective basis, I'd say that you have some nice colors, but could process your images a little more as there's some glare and reflections. There's some slight focus miss at a couple of them, and your compositions are generally centerweighted which to me makes them feel a little heavy.

Great that you're getting close to their heads, that helps. And those kids probably loved getting photographed as well, use that! :)
I looked at some of your other images, and they seem to be exposed at matrix metering. When having such contrasts between shadow and light (sunlight, outside, shade) you should really spot meter for your subject. That could be fixed a bit in post processing too, though.

One of the ribbon winners in "Lines" is a great showoff for pictures like these.

Good job!
