Hello,
I'm interested to know if I could use the lens hood together with the Coken "P" series filters on my Canon 28-135 IS lens? I don't have either one yet, but I do want both if they can coexist. Come to think of it, I'll be (hopefully) getting the 70-200 L IS this year; the same question applies here.
Thanks in advance for the answers.

Doesn't the Cokin holder act as a lens hood?

My bad. I have an old Cokin system holder that has an integrated hood. With the Cokin "P" series the hood comes seperate.

| Speaking of filters, I wonder how may people put a 1A filter over the lens for protection. And if you do, how much did you pay for the 1A Filter? How much sense does it make to pay hundreds or thousands for a great lens and put a $30-50 filter over it? There are a few filter companies, B&W come to mind that have high quality filters. So what are you using? |

I have the B&W filters for all my lenses but I only put them on when I´m shooting close to sea, sand or ice, the UV reflection from a glaciar can be too much for any lens, but the sand and salt really does a bad job on the lens.
but in a normal surrounding I don´t put any filters on my lenses. |

I have no filters on my lenses either. The same theory of why put another 'lens' between the image and the camera - it can only degrade the image.
