Hi I just joined this site. But I am still looking for a camera. What do you recomend for my budget?

Ignore megapixels for the moment, just go for 3 or more.
Full manual control capability (aperture and shutter speed)
ability to set custom WB
ability to use external flash is a big plus (hot shoe)
Beyond that, what is it you want to shoot? Still life, action/sports, portraits, web or print, landscapes - that might help us narrow it down some.
Is Used OK or must it be new?

go for any camera in the Canon Powershot G line, G1, G2, G3, G5, G6, they are all Excellent cameras with full auto and full manual and everything in between. it has a very good lens for a p&s camera and a hotshoe for external flash.

For a beginner on that tight of a budget I think you need to look at the Canon Powershot S1 IS. Good zoom. Unable to add a flash on put the zoom and some features will get you going. You can also add on lenses. DSLR is NOT in your budget. I just bought the Powershot S1 IS a few weeks ago and really love it. I almost bought the 300 Rebel, but felt I wasn't quite ready for that much of an investment. You obviously already have Compact Flash card so I would suggest staying with a camera that takes these. The cheapest I found the Powershot S1 IS is here.
