Hi everyone,
I live in Florida so the majority of the weddings I photograph are outdoors. However, lately I have been photographing more indoor weddings so I am planning on purchasing another lens. I have been using a Nikon Nikkor 70-210mm 1:4-5.6 lens for churches when they make me stand in the very back. However, I would like to get a 2.8 lens since normally flash is not allowed also.
Now to my question... I am on a budget and was wondering if a lens such as the Tamron 70-210 LD f/2.8 lens would even compare to a Nikon brand? How about Sigma? Would I be really sacrificing quality?
Thanks! |

I don't know much about nikon except that the 70-200 vr is supposed to be phenominal. The sigma 70-200 2.8 is a very good lens for the money. I don't know anything about the Tamron but I think they make good products for reasonable prices. |

It all depends on the lens. Read reviews of the different lenses that you are considering. I bought a Tamron 18-75mm f/2.8 after a lot of people recommended it. I read the reviews and ratings and it ranked right up there with the Nikkor of the same range, but much cheaper. I have no regrets getting a Tamron, and I don't think of it as "generic", because it is far from that.
Sigma also makes some good lenses as well.
