If it were myself and I was looking to spend that kind of money and wanted a really good set up and I didn't mind used - I would check ebay - you can get awesome setups at great deals! Find someones unneeded treasure and get yourself a great deal! Britek makes some great strobes depending on which models you are looking at - but $ for $ you can do much better I'd be betting. I have never used Britek - but I studied strobes for quite some time and they were very good contenders in my opinion.
Not that this was much help for you -

When I bought studio lights, I considered no other brand than Alienbee's. I have them and they're awesome! |

Ditto! I have 3 Alien Bee 800s and they are awesome. Even work great for large groups!

I'm gonna echo the Alien Bees mantra here. If you have $800 to spend, you can get a nice setup from them. I got mine Friday.

Edit: Which ever you get, don't forget to get a hot shoe adapter, if you want to use the PC Sync cable to trip the strobes, since the D70 doesn't have a PC Sync out jack.
