Howdy folks
Is there a method for assessing wether a camera is performing to factory standards? at least some tests I can perform at home? using a nikon d70 18-70 f3.5/4 ed lens or whatever.
I just have a slight suspicion its not performing as well as it should, although I do not know much at all about photography and I could be wrong. Just seems like pictures It took when first purchased were much cleaner with hardly any noise. but well probably maybe possibly im wrong!

Post some pictures or links so we can see what you are talking about. What's your major concerns? It would be good to post with EXIF info too.

perhaps you have the ISO set to "auto" and you are shooting in low light which is causing it to pump up the ISO creating more noise?

Better read that manual. Best advice there is to do. Then re-read it again.
I owuld agree that it is probably on auto ISO. There is a reset to defaults menu...guess where you can find out how to do that? (C:

Yup, ask ole El'Manual...
Don't do what I did and send the camera back complaining about 1-2 frames/sec bracketing when all that was wrong was the NR (noise reduction) setting was set to 'on' - which the technical department was quite happy to tell me was in the manual on page ##... |
