hello everyone!! I hope I'm in the right spot to do this...if not...I'm sure someone can direct me where I need to be...

My name is Rachel...I just became a member today and posted two of my pics from today...I would love to get any feedback. I am absolutely new to photography...but I love it. I don't know all the technical lingo just yet...but I am learning...

I have 2 digital camera's...both Sony

Mavica FD100
Cybershot

The last one I'm still trying to figure out...I can't wait to meet others and get involved with some of the challenges...I'm so excited...

Please drop me a line any time....I look forward to making new friends...

Take care,
Rachel

Welcome to dpc Rachel. I couldn't find your two shots.

You came to the right place to learn about digital photography. That's what we are all about. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

Good Luck in the challenges.

You'll need to upload some into your portfolio. In the menus at the top, go to My Home > My Portfolio and there is a box at the top where you can upload photos from your computer.

Welcome.

Since you have 2 Sony cameras. Not sure if your interested in the Memory Stick/Floppy Disk Adaptor (MSAC-FD2M). Less then $20 at Circuit City. It's shaped like a floppy disk but has a place to insert a memory stick, thus increasing the capacity. I've seen them in store but they are not available online.

Just some info for the Mavica.

I hope you are ready for an addiction. This is a great place to learn and grow in photography. I have left comments on your photos. You can take those anyway you want. I try not to be mean. I would suggest first thing you do is click learn at the top right of the screen here and check out the tutorials and "How'd They Do That" I found these to be very helpful. Do you have Photoshop? Good luck and I hope you enjoy your stay.

I've been here only a short while, but this place became my everyday getaway - I have to check the site and the forums at least twice a day even if I do not plan on entering a challenge.

Watch out - it is addictive. Drew & Langdon (admins) should put a warning label on the site.

ps. I left you a comment.

Just remember if you have software always shoot in color. It will be easier to go to b/w later.

Hi Rachel34, welcome to the madhouse!

If you are still sane after 6 months here, then you need either a brain implant or defrosting! Not only will you become addicted to the update button, but you will also spend all your time rushing round trying to get a shot for the challenges. You will develop PS phobia, and DSLR disease...it is highly infectious.

Enjoy your time here, you will learn a lot, but also be very frustrated that you can't seem to match the ribbon winning photos...don't bother too much, just enjoy yourself.

Steve

Found your shots. You're into textures, lol. I like that.

A suggestion- get in the habit of entering the exposure details (Aperture, ISO, and Shutter Speed) when you upload shots. It helps viewers to critique and also makes you think more about them when shooting.
