Ummm, maybe there are 8 people who didn't understand that you use your phone as a clock. Or maybe there are 5 who think that and 3 who didn't like it. Or 5 who didn't think that, 2 who didn't like it and 1 who is a troll.

In other words, who knows??????? Voting is subjective to personal opinion.

I was walking with my boss to a workshop just last Wednesday and asked what time it was. The only timepiece either of us had was his cell phone...

I totally got it.. but that's because my cell phone is my timepiece too. I can't stand to wear my watch now. :P

soz about the ones. That is something I have learned to shrug and move on about. somehow it hits me subliminally though.. I just have to hope I continue to improve.

Don't feel so bad. 16 1's, 31 2's, 29 3's. That will teach me for posting a purposefully noisy, oversharpened, with no clock, and sepia toned pic for time. Oh well!

But my new one is (was) doing well. LOL

I think that 8 1's is about right for that photo. Even the first, second and third place photo got a 1 each. Your photo is technically ok, but some people probably had an issue with it being a Cell Phone - even if your title tried to make the link between image and challenge. Perhaps if the time was visible on the screen it would have been more obvious.

Don't worry - I'm yet to post a photo that doesn't receive a 1... I suspect most people are in the same position. Perhaps there are a couple of trolls, but more likely it's just different people looking for different things in photos. Some people, for example, like a very traditional interpretation of the challenge.

I think many ppl misread the challange and literally took a photo of a timepiece.

It's hard for ppl to equate time with a cell phone where #'s are highlighted. And even if you did take a photo of the LCD displaying time, that photo would also be uninteresting...at least to me. Also the composition was poor.

I hope you didn't want me to lie to you and say it deserved a high rating... perhaps the ppl who gave you ones thought you didn't even try?

I didn't vote on your photo but just my 2 cents.

Truthfully I thought the photo was really neat, I liked the neon green your phone gave off. Only thing I saw with the overall photo is the softness of the focus across the * 0 # row, but I wasn't one who scored it low.

i like the pic. i liked the shallow DOF, and the colors and the crispness of the parts in focus. I agree that alot of people probably didn't get the connection with time. Also, a lot of DPC voters seem to not realize that shallow DOF isn't an error.

hi geocide, dont worry it's a part of challenge, let's just respect their opinion, honestly, my entries got six 1 rating, and six 2 rating, and 13 9 ratings and 15 10 ratings. And their comments are both contrasting, some didnt understand my interpretation of time.
