Many of you have followed the progress of the project I launched last August. My aim was to raise funds for wildlife conservation by selling prints of photographs taken on a trip to Kenya last year, where I met David Shepherd, the founder of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. His emotive accounts of the problems faced and his passion about being part of the solution made me keen to find ways in which I could support the work of the foundation.
The project ran from late August 2004 to the end of February 2005.
Totals have now been collated and I would like to announce the final figures to you all as well as some heart felt thank yous.
Print Sale profits totalled $1194.67.
Several individuals also donated directly without purchasing prints. Most donations were made in dollars and a few were made in UK sterling so I've used current exchange rates to give a total in dollars.
These donations totalled $698.53
That comes to a grand total of $1,893.20!
The money is making it's way to me via various channels and I'll be presenting a cheque to the charity as soon as all the payments clear.
I have spoken to the charity today and we have agreed that the money raised (£980.93) will go towards the Desert Rhino project in Namibia. DSWF will be contacting the project directors in Namibia to ask for ideas on how this substantial amount can be used so I'll be able to come back to you in the future and let you know just how your money has been put to work.
.
.
I'd like to give again my most sincere thanks to Drew and Langdon for their generosity and support. For those who don't know, they kindly agreed at the beginning of the project, to donate their share of the profits to the charity too. That meant that I could let all prospective purchasers know that 100% of print profits from every sale would be ear-marked for the charity's work which I'm sure helped motivate people to buy, buy, buy!
Let me also say a huge THANK YOU to those who have bought a print and/ or donated money directly. Thanks to Manic, Gordon, PaulMdx, Sonifo, Lenkphotos, BrownT, Jbsmithana, Laurielblack, Bod, Rscorp, Rex07734, RsHoldenSr, THE, Richterrell, Chiqui, Magnetic9999, Vivien, Alecia and Jacko for buying prints. Thanks to Dwoolridge, Geewhy and Clubjuggle for donating. To those of you who purchased anonymously, thanks also.
All my love
Kavita (Kavey)
And here are the 5 most popular images from the project.
(Please note that proceeds from future sales are now going towards my own pocket).

Some nice news...
On that first Festival of Wildlife trip to Kenya, there was an auction to raise funds for DSWF. The artists and authors contributed paintings, books and so on. The tour operator put in a place at the 2005 festival (which I'm about to go on). A local balloon safari operator put in 2 trips, one of which I bid on and won and enjoyed very much.
Anyway, I was talking to the tour operator people, who I got to know on the last trip, and let them know about the project finishing and how much was raised.
They asked if I would like to bring along a couple of prints to be put into the auction they are doing this year!!!!
I'm chuffed to bits!

That rocks Kavey. You did a great job. I bought a print and it's on my wall. I should take a photo of it.

Just to update you all, I went over to the charity headquarters a few weeks back and gave them the money. They were really lovely and grateful and I just want to thank all of you who supported the project.

Here's a photo of me presenting the cheque to the charity on their website.
I know this thread is a bit of a conversation I'm having with myself in public but I just want to say again how incredibly grateful I am to the DPC community for their support on this project.
THANK YOU!
