I have two sb-600s, and I was wondering what setups I could use to create a nice lighting setup. Can it be done with these limited lighting devices, or, will I need more? If anyone has set up a nice lighting sene with only two flashes please let me know. I am still learning studio lighting so any information would be helpful.

Thanks

Travis

You need two light stands and 2 umbrellas and voila! You can take shots with great light with this simple setup. Examples:

I am using a similar set up (2 quantarray flashes mounted on tripods, one fired via PC the other optically).

Umbrellas are cool, but eat the light. a lot of light. i get better diffusion using a white sheet hing in front of the flash. ($5 at walmart).

There are many ways to set 2 lights - the easiest is one left one right at 45 degrees, one full power (main) the other 1/2 (fill) and try that. Keep the backdrop 5 feet back so yoy throw no shadows on to it.

This is with 2 alien bees, unbrellas etc but the light locations are as described
The one has had a backdrop 'shopped in.

These are my 2 strobes - see the directional-ness of the light. It changes from one pic to the next by adding some diffusion and turning down the power.

Hey Nick,

Any chance of taking a picture of the actual setup to better understand your light emplacements?

Thanks
