Residential or commercial, rural or urban, abandoned buildings often have unique textures, colors and character. Show us a great photograph of a building that is no longer in use.

These were all taken in the same old industrial building....abandoned for decades I believe.

I know a great old mental hospital that's been abandoned for years. It's actually a series of buildings and grounds. Unfortunately I think they are doing some construction in that area which would make it harder to sneak in. If this were an actual challenge I'd love to go road tripping to find some good subjects.

Again perfect! Let's hope we get this challenge now that I have an in. How do you know them? My mom used to work there many years ago, so after hearing her stories I've always been a little tempted to do a walk thru.

A good friend of mine was a foreman on that site. A LOT of weird stuff happens there. I alo got some stories about that place as well but won't discuss them.

Fair enough!

There are lots of other buildings to investigate.

Buffalo, New York, was famous in the early part of the 20th century for its grain shipment business. Today there are over a dozen abandoned grain elevators. Here are a few images I made of them a while ago:

This would be a fun challenge.

So why not make this our next DPC outing??? and get some other involved??? This way even if we do get in trouble there is to many of us to get into trouble. :D

LOL here at DPChallenge we like to promote breaking and entering - as long as it's for a good photo opp. I'm up for it (would be my first GTG) not sure how many people would think the crime outweighed the art.

We can only get into trouble if we get caught and then what are the odds of getting into trouble as a group?

Think of the plus side we could all hire 1 lawyer and have him/her do all the cases at one low price. Kinda like getting a group discount. :D

I'm looking for abandoned buildings in Yorkshire (preferably West, although I will travel if it's a good'n).
Anyone have any tips?
A particular old mill? A ruined church with a great interior? Must not be National Trust or English Heritage though.

Bob, on the road out of Otley towards Wetherby, there's a fabulous old half-castle of a place, not long before you get to Harewood, I think. I drove past it yesterday morning, but I haven't time to look it up right now - maybe later (if I can leave the new camera alone long enough to get round to it). I can't tell you much about it, and it might be in the process of restoration - I just noticed it and thought 'that needs to be shot'.

Sounds great, I'll check it out!
BTW, are we meeting up some time soon?
