Mountain Men & Women, Cowboys, and Buckaroos Rendezvous in Poway
The City of Poway and the mock gun-fighting teams of the Apache Canyon Gang, Cimarron Ridge Old West Productions, and the Shadow River Regulators will be hosting the 2005 "Rendezvous In Poway" on Saturday, March 19, through Sunday, March 20, at Old Poway Park.
More than 25 living historical encampments will be set up, giving you a chance to meet cowboys, buckaroos, mountain men and women demonstrating what it was like to live in the turn-of-the-century and Civil War eras. History will come to life with the smell of campfires, the sounds of Civil War-era cannons, steam train whistles and mock gunfights. Enjoy period costumes, crafts, tomahawk-throwing lessons, and much more.

Geez - guess I live in a cave. I knew nothing about this, and it's in my own home town of about 15 years.
May have to take the long 2 mile drive and stop by on Sunday.
Thanks!

I'll make it out there one of the days depending on the weather. It is a nice park to shot while overcast but I think rain is predicted for saturday.

Here's a real quick one from the Shindig in Poway today...got a bunch to go through.
The sky was a wash most of the day today. Hopefully better tomorrow. The event was quite interesting. A lot of people dressed for the period that loved being photographed. Lot's of story tellers. The train was robbed by actors every hour...cool little gun fights.
The conductor of the train seen me taking a lot pics and asked if the wife and I wanted to ride up in the engine on one of the trips that the train was held up...that was pretty cool (wished I had a wideangle on as they was all in our face) got a lot of action shots.
I put the good one in my portfolio once worked up...
Andy
Also Reminder to the San Diegans (and visitors) that the Butterflies and Orchids display at the Wild Animal Park has started and will run for the next three weeks.
Wings over Gillespie is another good shot at the end of next month. |
