Nice shot. I had one of those birds wake me up this morning. There great for photos because they're easy to find (the sound). The only thing I think might make this photo better is lighting up the side of the tree the woodpecker is on. It might look better if you bring him out of the shadows.

Nice shot. I hate this bird. I had to replace some siding and trim on house my because of one of these. Pecked a big whole in my chimney. I like the picture though good detail.

I always wondered what might have put the big hole in our T111 siding. We have tons of these on our property, so I'll bet it was them!!
He got a great photo of that one though!

you could easily add the catchlight.
too bad it had to be cropped down so much. nice and crisp though.
does the L stand for Ludicrously expensive glass?

Very nice shot. Detail is great. I see some detail lost down his back but I think that maybe the way the feathers are. Good job. |

Cool bird! This is actually a flicker of some kind. They are fairly large, growing to almost a foot or more in height. We had one that used to stand on our hot water heater's chimney and pound it, announcing his turf. It sounded like machine gun fire! I finally had to attach a piece of old carpet to the top of the chimney so it wouldn't make any noise. The bird gave up and went to someone else's roof!
