I entered this in the surreal challenge. Obviously, not many saw it as surreal - I fully understand that. Aside from that, I thought it was technically a better shot than my outtake. And for those who don't read titles, he has two right hands.
Outtake:
As I said, I wasn't pleased technically with the outtake otherwise I would have entered it. Although, in retrospect, I'm pretty sure it would have done better than my entry, just because it's "hit you over the head" obvious.
Nobody asked but I'm going to tell you anyways. The lenses of the swim goggles are lined with eyes I minipulated and printed (the same eye mirrored actually). The head is a green ball. The rest is plain to see.

Considering I only had time for 15 minutes worth of editting (curves to get the effect and crop) I think I had a good entry (And somebody picked it as a favorite!). But, a few people mentioned that a tighter crop would have been better.
Here were the other possibilities I thought of submitting:
This one I thought was interesting for the way the railing (the same one in my submission) framed the bottom of the photo.
This one I was told by many people was the most impressive. I didn't submit this one because (1) I didn't have enough time to edit it and (2) even if I did, I have no idea what to do with it. I like how the shadow adds to the believability of the floating guitar. |
