How about awarding ribbons for the 3 worst photos? Think of it like receiving a purple heart for getting wounded. I know it's a little un-PC, but I've been down there a few times. Those unwanted, ugly photos are like your children, sure they're a little "off" but they're still yours, right?

I am the unforgiving type. I disown them at once and look back in shock to know that it was I that gave birth to such an abortion. ROFL.

P.S. the added worst rewards of a prize is the worst punishment I can see.

We already have a brown ribbon and that by itself is too much. It encourages crapola. There is enough of that already going around without further encouragement.

		| Agreed, the point is to develope the art, not diminish it. Ridicule is an unfitting reward to those who tried and failed. As for encouraging low scores, that diminishes the site. |

		| I love the bottom feeders, the outcasts, the misfits, the brownies of this hundred-acre wood. But no ribbons. No awards. "Views since voting" stats and that deliciously painful satisfaction of being last is enough. Vive les DPC miserables! |

I've spent a couple hours browsing the 'worst rated' photos on this site. Its true that a vast majority don't warrant a second look; but every once in a while there is a gem. Sometimes it's a great photo entered in the wrong challenge. Sometimes it's a photo that is really very good but doesn't quite adhere to the normal style of the site (i.e. its purposefully blurred). It might be fun to have a 'second look' award for good photos that scored badly in a challenge.

Cool. There could be a brown ribbon, a greenish-yellow ribbon, and a 'god-knows,-I-couldn't-get-close-enough-to-see-what-colour-it-was' ribbon.

I thought this thread was going to be about the worst photos that ever won a ribbon...

"Post what you think is the worst photo that was lucky enough to win a ribbon".

Now that would be an interesting thread.

Might be a little awkward though, given that some of the nominees might read the thread...
