Look again: "anything color will bomb... many people would interpret that as not reading the assignment." I only suggested that the voters will think you didn't read the challenge description, therefore your score will be low. That's the same (to me) as your statement about misjudging the common interpretation. I think we are actually in agreement here. ;-)

Wow. Been a few days since I revisited this thread. I looked at what I scored the color photo. I thought it was an okay shot. Clear and with good color. However the composition didn't appeal to me much and it appeared a slight clockwise rotation would have straightened the shore line a bit. I'm no expert, but just because it had a snow topped mountain in it doesn't necessarily speak to me of Adams's style. It seemed like a nice vacation shot rather than an artistic shot.
I hope I'm not hurting feelings, but I'm just pointing out my original point of the thread. Even if this had been in b/w, I doubt I would have scored it any higher. I was not thinking "this doesn't meet the challenge" I was thinking "Nice try, but overall an average shot of a mountain on a nice day."
I was also thinking I really wish we had mountains like that around here! :^) |

We have lots of mountains, come on down. I was really surprized to see I was the only one in color. I wasn't even thinking be different on this one, others yes. My main reason for not B&W was the yellows & reds contrasting with the blues, being lost in B&W. They contrasted so well to me. An honest opinion of a shot is what we want, and yours is helpful. Van
