I don't know whether or not this is the right place for this, but I'd like to point out an anomaly I have experienced a couple of times while voting.
In viewing, commenting and voting on the entries in a challenge, I sometimes find that I'm presented with a picture I've already voted on.
What I normally do is to go to the voting section and vote on as many as I can at one time, then leave the computer on and come back later. I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

I've thought i noticed this too but figured it was a brain mishap not a site one. |

I have the same problem and vote on all the photos at once. Occasionally I have a repeat photo pop up that I have already voted on. Strange?

Me too. It doesn't happen often, but it's weird when it does. |

Do you use more than one browser window when you vote? E.g. one with thumbnails, and one with full images?
This can also happen if you click on the back button - you may end up using cached page instead of the actual page...
I have seen this too, but I was able to explain it by having multiple browser windows open at the time.
I like the two-pass approach, i.e. organizing photos in 4-5-6-7 groups, (with occasional exceptions that I immediately put in the 10 group) and then re-grade all images by looking at the individual groups. This way I do not run into duplicates.

it's obviously people entering twice to have a better chance.
:-)
actually, it's happened to me too.

it has happened to me as well.
Every time (?) though, it is because something pulled me away from a computer while voting. The image was left on the screen; I came back; clicked on the vote, next image came up. Then, a few minutes later, the image that had been left on the screen comes back up.
I suspect, at least for me, it is a "timing out" thing or something.

That's probably it, then.

This is the answer as far as I can tell. Far more worrying for me is that when I do this, I sometimes find comments jumping across from one window to another, usually without my noticing it. Sometimes I get pms from members who cannot understand one of my comments because it has nothing to do with their photo. This in one of the reasons I hardly ever make comments any more.

AFAIK, the "same photo" pheomenon is only related to timeout issues, as previously posted. It will "feel" like it took the vote the first time, but it really did not.
The multiple-browser-window issues I have no experience with, though I know at least two reasons why folks do this...
1.) To preload the next image while voting on another, when using dialup
2.) When "cherry-picking" from thumbs
The first strategy I fully understand, since it can save nearly half the time required to vote. Implementation of something like this without need for two windows has been discussed but there is no comittment or timeline. It certainly is an ever-less-general need since the number of users on dialup continues to plummet.
The second strategy I always plead with folks not to use, because it damages the effectiveness of the random presentation of images that is SO important to ensure that all images get an equal chance for our votes.
If you value the fairness of the voting process, PLEASE don't cherry-pick from thumbnails
