Right now I own 2 lenses but im looking to add 1 or 2 more, so I was wondering what are some good "travel" lenses (around $600 or less)

Lenses I own:
Tamron 70-300mm
Canon 35-80mm

Thinking about:
Sigma 105mm
Canon 15mm fisheye

If you are intending low light shots the 50mm 1.8 is very fast and very cheap, I am certainly glad I bought it.

Looking at the two lenses you have, I would think the "gaping hole" in your coverage is at the wide end. Your 35mm lens equates to a 56mm on your Rebel, which isn't wide at all. So, if I were you, I'd be looking for a good wide angle lens.

My preference would be for a zoom before looking at the fisheye. The fisheye will only be good in some unusual cases. But a good wide angle zoom will serve you in many instances that your current lenses cannot.

Best wide angle lens is the Canon EF-S 10-22. Bit expensive though. You can also look at the new Tokina 12-24 if that fits your budget more.

You said $600... if you can squeak out $100 more, you might consider the Canon 17-40mm f/4L lens.

How is this lens the best? Perhaps it may be the widest Canon makes, but does that qualify it as the best?

The nice thing about the 17-40 for you, is that with your existing lenses you would then have coverage from 17mm all the way up through 300mm.

If you went with the 10-22 then you'll still have a gap from 22 to 35mm.

I was thinking about getting the 17-40mm f/4L. There a few on eBay that are at a decent price. I would check there first.

B&H has it for
$679

I have the 17-40L and it´s a great lens, I would also look at the sigma 105mm macro but get the 17-40 first, as long as you use a Canon EOS camera the 17-40L will be one of your favorite lenses, it´s one of those that you never consider replacing, because there is no other equal or better :)
