WHERE DO YOU LIVE? Can you spare an acre? 10 Acres on Long Island would be worth about $1.5 - 2 million.
Just not fair!!! |

outside burlington, vermont.
colonel page road - essex, vt to be precise.
might be able to spare an acre once we get a hold of the empty 3 acres next to us.
i really couldn't ask for a better spot. and shouldn't complain about snow seeing as i chose to buy a house here... 5 minutes to shopping, and only 8 houses on our road. can see a good portion of the green mountains from the computer.

that isn't bad - you get any deals with the town for farming it - or deeding against development?

It's not farmed by us. It's rented out to a local farmer. No discounts that I know.

Alabama. I paid 15,000 for the land about 9 years ago and put up a barn and built my cabin and dog kennels. It's a nice wooded property on an old red gravel road about twelve miles from town. (and almost 100 to the nearest city) Property taxes are low here, but you have to pay a 4% state sales tax on groceries. Taxes on most of the more expensive homes in town are usually under $350 a year.
