Here is a variation of the "WINNERS (subject) Challenge?" thread.
Once a month, do a poll presneting various challenge subjects and then the poll winner will be the challenge subject. this was the way the B&W II challenge happened and I thought it was fun. It would be cool to do this once a month.
What do you think?

People would have an idea of what the challenge topic is going to be before it starts. And that is perceived as an open door for those who would cheat by entering a photo taken before the challenge period started.
Perhaps a poll of some kind would work if a) the results were not made public; and b) there was a delay, of varying length, between the end of the poll and the beginning of the challenge. I do like the idea of users having more influence over topics. This proposal needs to have some details worked out.

I maybe mistaken but didn't we have a challenge poll back in the fall where we were asked to chose from around 10 topics? |

Well, this went over like a lead balloon. I wonder why?
I seem to remember that there was high participation in the poll for the B&W II challenge.
Any other thoughts?

I've seen this at other sites, and I thought the idea was wonderful. I like the idea of being able to choose the challenges that I might be able to partake in. Of course, the results would NEED to be hidden, and the results shouldn't be used for the VERY next challenge, but the poll idea is great.
I second that!

I like it. I second as well.
Regarding cheaters - they would risk DQ by exif info, right? I realize they may never be challenged, but why let the prospect of cheaters deter from an otherwise great idea. Besides, maybe the rules could state that the original image with exif data will be required for the ribbon winners to make sure what was suggested doesn;t happen. |

I don't think that cheaters would get too much out of it. If there are 10 poll options to vote on, who in the world has enough time to take more than 10 photos for a challenge site? I know I don't.
Plus, like you said, the Exif will protect the challenges.
