As some of you know, I am trying to finish up setting up a new PC. Tonight I am trying to a decent calibration. This is a shot that I would like to know:
How much red vs. orange do you see?
How would you describe the chrome grill and overall tones and pitch?
How dark or light do you perceive this to be?
I know how subjective this is, but it might help. Thank you!
Please view full size to evaluate what your monitor shows. Thanks!

Well I have a crappy monitor so not the best judge.
The car is red with some spots looking like an oversaturated red. The highlights on the car paint are orange and some orange in the highlights on the lights. The grill is dark with a red reflection on the bottom and greenish-silver highlights elsewhere. Overall the image is a little dark. |

I think the image is a bit dark and oversaturated. I see the car as blood red, with brownish spots on darker areas and some orange/yellowish spots on the highlights. The chrome grill has some olive green (most of it)and gray tones. Hope this helps. |

I see a gaudy carnival red with plenty of white highlights and six predominantly yellow ones. Most shadows display solid black at their core. A slight green-yellow tint is discernible but not critically pervasive.
The image appears darker and more saturated than I would have it for a racy subject as this one. The, conceivably, most enjoyable details (the shiny curvature of a fender, the triply chromed air vents in the panel in front of the driver's door, the form and outline of the headlight closest to us, the grill details and, above all the imaginable 'polish' of the car) is not sufficiently bright to relay this information. The highlights 'could' accomplish this, but are, unfortunately, blown out.
For the purpose of calibration. the most useful area to look at might be the diagonally lined shadows on the fender in the foreground. These extend from faint to black, in roughly, four - five phases of tonality, not the full range.
(As viewed on an Apple cinema display and an eMac CRT monitor - out of the box).
Hope this helps a little.

On my monitor this is a very red photo. There is a touch of yellow on the hood just above the grill, as well as on the headlight, headlight casing and the middle of the left fender. The grill is for the most part very dark, with a red relection from the left fender at the bottom and an olive green haze at the top portion. There is a very definite shadow surrounding the right headlight. The left fender has a very brightly lit sphere at the very front, whereas the remainder of the fender has a very dark shadow cast over it.
Hope this helps a tad

Candy-apple red, very dark overall, specular highlights fringed with bright yellow, chrome mostly black with green reflections, visible banding of color levels in the red gradations.

Well the grill is a little hot and the green is much to flowing and flouresent. The red comes in little spots that disapear again and move toward the top of the picture intermitantly and then go poof.
