ok. So I decided another one of my photos needed a little more. I went ahead and touched up two and gave the second one some fog. If you could do me a favor and please say which one you like better and why I would really appreciate it.

Original

One - Without Fog

Two - With Fog

Thanks for your help...

Hi.

Personally, I like the original better than either of the edited versions.

Thanks for your response. Hopefully I'll get some more...

I like the 3rd one, with the Fog. It balances out the sky, and adds interest. Good work.

The fog version adds a sense of depth that helps a lot in a basically bland image.

Third one

I think the third one is my favorite too but with it being my own work I wasn't sure if the fog was real enough looking or not. I've never made it before...

I like the second...

I like the 23rd.

Is that a typo or can't you decide?

Hey Eric,
I took the liberty to play around with it a bit (not trying to show off, but just to look as some possibilities), this is what I came up with:

It was meant as an encouragement to continue to edit and experiment. If you want me to make a decision between the three you have so far, I'd go with the original version.

I have, in fact, made more than 23 edits of a single shot, if only for the result to have certainty as to what it was about and how much leverage there was to be had from it.

Original is best given the choices.

Without fog has nicer tonality in the trees but the water looks funky. With the log in the water being the subject of the shot, your eye is drawn more into the water than the trees. Try layer masking to adjust the water and trees seperatly?

The fog does not look natural and adds nothing to the shot IMHO...

ok. So I added another one. 1 is the newest. Number 3 the original. Which one do you think is now the strongest?

1. 2. 3.

Thanks.

bump to get the same viewers from last night at this time...

I still like the original one the best.....

Didn't respond last night, but I like the newest version, the added color gives it a nice warmth.

Do you think the water's reflection is too bright?

No I don't think it is. That's one of the things I like about this version, the bottom left corner how the water looks kind of reddish.

I like the fog! How did you add it?
03/10/2005 09:51:08 PM · #21
I added a grey gradient on a new layer. Did the difference clouds filter twice with white and then steched the layer until the clouds were large enough. Then I did a gaugassion blur, ran a noise filter and did the blur again and then finally made the layer 30% (I think)...

I think thats pretty much everything I did. I never did that before so I kinda just winged it. Does anyone know an easier way or a better way?
