Mt St Helens had a fairly large eruption again today. Steam and ash plume went up 25-35,000 feet. It happened at about 5:25pm, as I was driving home from my dentist's office. I didn't have my camera with me.
Too bad I didn't take the day off and go up to Coldwater Ridge. It would have been a great photo op.

| My mom's husband called awhile ago to say he was standing in the Portland area watching it blow. I'm too far south to see it, though. |

Wow, she really did spew again!
She's gonna ruin her reputation, spreading her ash around like that!

Wow Joe, those are some great shots. I'm glad you were able to get them. By the time I got home to my camera it was already starting to get dark.
From the angle of the ash plume it looks like you might live somewhere south, or maybe southeast, of Portland. Woodburn maybe?

I was hoping you might get some shots in. I was coming accross the 205 bridge from work in Portland when I noticed the mountain. Actually I live just outside of Camas, a little Southeast of the mountain.
Thanks Michael |

Don't worry, there will be more eruptions. I just hope we don't get a really big one.
I just want a nice, relatively safe, yet very dramatic eruption. But only when I'm up on Coldwater Ridge with my camera w/remote ready on the tripod, on a nice clear morning with the sun low in the sky. Is that too much to ask for? :)

Classic quote on this blog ...
"We were on the roof and didn't even notice it until someone pointed it out. Funny thing - Kyle and I were just talking about how we're kinda sick of taking pictures on/from the roof deck. We'd taken every possible picture already. That is, except for the 30,000 foot ash plume just to the north."
The shot seems to be from a very similar angle as Joe's.
