Hi LA DPCers,
Do any of you know any good accountants in the PasaGlendale/Burbank area? I am really not looking forward to another year of H&R Block. Any advice would be great!

Have you considered turbotax? Juast do it yourself and save yourself the anguish.

Does turbo tax allow for writing off photo supplies and gas for events as an independent contractor?

If you go the TurboTax route, you'll need to carefully look at what each product offers. They have a basic version that I'm just about sure will NOT address your situation, but they have two other versions that may.
Also, just a heads up that some folks have trouble updating the program (which is necessary, not optional). the on-line update does not work well with all broadband services and firewalls. I have used Turbotax and had this problem the past two years running. It's not insurmountable, butfinding the "manual update" file is a bit of a task.

The deluxe version, which I use, does have that capability. Not sure about the basic version. I have broadband and have had no problems with the automatic updates.

did you now you can deduct turbo tax from your taxes??? if you itemize there is a LOT you can deduct, if your deductions are greater than the standard deductions.
I have been using turbo tax long time, the second tax year you use it it takes less time because you import all your info from the previous year.
Plus you can efile and get your refund direct deposited into your bank account. I got my refund several weeks ago!!!
