Came across these pictures in another one of my favorite photography sites(gotta love the combination of photography and aviation), and thought I'd share.
Low landing 1
Low landing 2
This one is just for kicks. Shows great advertising tactics, IMO(and by that I mean the showing of arrival times...hehehe)
That is one place I would love to visit sometime.

| I seem to recall seeing a picture very close to that in a challenge--Best of 2004 maybe? Is it the same photographer? |

I was just there in January and saw the airport strip so close to the beach. Unfortunately a plane never landed while I was in the are or I would have loved to get a shot like that!

Yeah, my advice would be to avoid all the islands the cruise ships stop at.

Yup, I'm the proud photographer of this shot. We went there in December and realized (only after landing) how truly close the approach is to the people on the beach. Later in the week, we spent an afternoon watching the big dogs land. St Maarten is the Dutch side, St Martin is the French side. The only island with 2 separate nations in the world. The vacation was spectacular; highly recommend it. Just close your eyes on the final approach. |

| Can't be too healthy (air-wise) to lay on that beach. But I bet it's exciting! |

They always got a breeze there, and not that many flights go in and out anyway. It's a small island.

I can send you my original with the EXIF file attached as proof. I admit, if I hadn't seen it myself, I would doubt the validity as well.
There is a sign on the fence to the photo's right that warned of hazardous jet-blast winds. The "brave" souls on the beach were pelted with a sand storm with every flight overhead. |

There's a bar called Madam's Organ in the (you guessed it) Adams Morgan section of DC, that does $2 Rolling Rock bottles for redheads.
Needless to say, I like that place.

Sailingduck's photo was validated during the Best of 2004 challenge.
(This is why we tell people to always vote assumint the image was achieved legally!)
