Just out of curiosity...I wanted your opinions on this shot

This was an outtake because I thought it was a little too abstracty for the general audience.

I agree that is too abstract for this audience.
I like it in a strange way. I'll try to explain without offending: sometimes I take a photo that is more flaw than photo, but it appeals to me. That is the case here. It doesn't seem that the effect was intentional, and yet it is striking to me. It is the kind of photo I would keep and come back to look at from time to time, but that would not make it to my portfolio, if that makes any sense at all.
The extreme softness and the blurring along the edges of objects almost makes me think of a painting - impressionist meets water color.
I babble. Bottom line: to me, although it appeals to me, if it were a submission I would not score it well because it doesn't fit my definition of a good photograph.
Take what you can use from this; disregard the rest. Dawn |

Was that shot through one of those glass-block walls or a water soaked glass door maybe? Kind of looks like a paparazzi shot. Sure that's not Adam Sandler?? I agree with you though, it probably would have scored below average this week. Is it a UPS delivery man? I'm kind of curious now. Courtenay

Of course if I had actually read your description on photosig before I posted, I would have seen that it was indeed a UPS guy...

Dawn, I know exactly what you mean...That photo appealed to me but I felt it wasn't something many people would connect with.
cortenay - It was shot through one of my filters...Although, others refer to it a windshield. And yes, it's not Adam Sandler :)
cq - There was no real photoshopping done to that. It was the rain running down the windshield that blurred it..And, I had no control over that :)

Please note that there's three or four separate threads of outtakes -- try to check them all. --Paul |

i think this is way cool. i like the surreal feel.
art isnt always conventional. but as you see from the comments already it prolly would have gotten hammered.
