I only ask because I didn't get any really critical comments. Perhaps the compostion was a bit uncomfortable? I did wonder if the point of focus was in the wrong place in the frame.

I think the color variation had something to do with it. Also the fact that the tic-tac-toe boxes was random sizes and order made it look more of a setup, than what you would see if a person was actually playing the game. And for some reason the paper looks like it dips in the middle.
Those are just a few thing is see. Over all an average shot.

Color throw was offputting, DOF seems wrong, it doesn't come across as being as sharp as you'd expect the subject to be. The design seems arbitrary, haphazard even. All in all, it just doesn't click for me.

Thanks for the feedback. I was deliberately trying to make the arrangement look random, as if someone had just drawn out a bunch of the boxes before starting a game but I can see what you mean. As for the colour variation, that was just laziness so I suppose I'll spend more time on it next time.

I didn't vote on all of that challenge but ....

I think it might have got hammered as it is a photo of a piece of art, in effect. The object you took the photo of is 2D and not especially artistic to make up for it (though I am sure it is a very artistic set of noughts and crosses :)

Oh, I'm lending it to the National Gallery for the summer.

Not to sounds horrible or anything, but I just don't think it's interesting to look at.

It seemed too "last minute" to me... but who am I to say. People found it more interesting than mine... *pout* LOL

It was quite last minute. I'm not necessarily debating the score, I'm sure that that was fair;I just wanted specifics.

I had a look at yours jozi, I didn't vote on it in the challenge but I would have given it a 4. Had it been a bit less dark I might have scored it a lot higher as, from what I could see, it had a very gentle feel.

I know what darkness can do to a photo, it's not pretty.
