Voting on light on white I find there are a lot of uninteresting photos-nevermind the light and white controversy....yet in Separation and Passing Time the pics are more varied and compelling.
Of course i'm in my first challenge in Light on White and only have 2 comments, so guess I am guilty of submitting of boring one.
Maybe this is old news to most of you.

Yep. Interesting photos lead to more comments and higher scores. No secret there, but many people seem to worry about nothing more than meeting the challenge. There's more to it than that.

I know I didn't do that-i just took a shot, and I like it. Then thought it fits-just not as perfectly. Overall the challenge doesn't evoke a lot of thought/emotion in the photographers?

"Light on White" is a challenge that's so demanding technically it leaves very little room for creativity on top of that, for folks on a time budget especially. Add that that the fact that there's basically a single, overwhelmingly obvious solution to the challenge, and you're primed for relatively little variation in the submissions, I think.

It makes it hard to vote sometimes..I start thinking ..didn't I already vote on this photo?

The photographers that win on this site - repeatedly win, that is - are those that can take a technical challenge and still come up with something interesting on top of meeting and exceeding the challenge criteria.

To paraphrase what GoldBerry said in the Light on White Update thread, any monkey with a camera can meet the challenge requirements. It takes a photographer, or a lucky monkey at least, to take a good, compelling, interesting photo.

Yes, of course. I was commenting to the fact that the overall quality level of the challenge seems to be flatter than usual. As always, the cream rises to the top.

Good thing that the cream is there...some challenges, though, it seems in short supply. For those of us (me) that are more skim than cream, it is frustrating at times to get lost in that sea of whiteness. But, you keep trying and maybe you get it one day.

Are you saying "It's better to be a lucky monkey than a good photographer?"
I used to think i'd rather be lucky than good, but rephrased like that i'm not so sure anymore!
