Just from my limited study of AA, I think these are too dark. Ansel would have insisted on a fuller tonal range, with detail remaining in the blacks. Your blacks have virtually no detail, not quite a Zone 0, but close. I only see a little bit of white, where Ansel often made his subjects GLOW with highlights.
I would only vote these 5. Ansel would have found a way to preserve foreground detail and thus lend a feel of depth to the image. These feel somewhat flat, even though you have done a nice job of darkening the sky with appropriate channel usage.
Please understand, this is constructive criticism - I'm not trying to be a know it all jerk, just offering my viewpoint. Hope it helps, best of luck!
PS. Stephen Wright is IMHO THE best stand up in the world :)

It is too early I think, as your outtake might well be similar to someone else's entry. Better to wait until the challenge ends. Then out up your outtakes ..... unless they are similar to an actual entry, in which case I feel it is polite to wait until after voting.
Great shots though, can't wait to see what your actual entry will be if those are the outtakes.

None of us know why Ansel did what he did so it's impossible to achieve 'his' effect. I like your shots based on their own merits. I agree with the foresaid comment about them being too dark, but I like dark.
Thing is, without his style of developing I doubt he'd be as popular. Alot of folks on this site have landscapes mastered.. bradp, heida. Now those two both have dodging and burning mastered. I don't know what the different processes are called, or the difference between them but on a challenge that requires majestic landscapes perfectly dodged and burned I think we all 'feel' who the winners will be.. I say bradp, heida, and zoomdak... not necessarily in that order.

In most cases we wait until the submission period ends before posting outtakes... and then try to avoid posting outtakes very similar to anyone's actual submission.
