There's a place and time for levity. This isn't it. 4 individuals who were committed to protecting the people in their provience were killed in the line of duty. That should always, always be taken with the upmost seriousness.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the extended family of Canadian law enforcement. Denis, make sure you stay safe up there.

Agreed.
No matter how often this type of thing happens in the world it's always a shock that someone could be so horrible. Prayers go out to the family, friends and community. |

| What a terrible loss...during the course of one's life, we tend to forget that anyone in law enforcement is at terrible risk of death daily. I cannot imagine how anyone could live with that burden as part of one's career. When I saw this on the news, it made me realize how important it is to enjoy the gift of living. |

I think we often take law enforcement for granted and many even feel animosity towards authority. It is at times like these that we reflect on what these brave men and women actually do - they risk their lives to serve and protect the lives and best interests of their fellow man. These four young officers paid the ultimate price which their families will continue to pay for years to come. I feel very sorry for their loss.

Apparently the suspect died at the scene as well.

One guy took out 4 Monties? I would think there were more that one bad guy here. |

Not Monites, not Monties...Mounties, perhaps...
This is the worst 'officers-killed-in-the-line-of-duty" that Canada has seen in 120 years.

If they are sent here make sure it is Texas. I think they put in an express lane for the death penalty. Something about if 4 or more people witness the crime and you are convicted of the death penalty then you are put to the front of the line. No waiting on death row for 15 years.

I think it was two and two, not four at once. Tragic. |

Yea every time this comes on the news I can't help but cry. The young guy was 22 and had only been a mountie for 2 weeks. They were just guarding the confiscated drugs, not even busting in. And killed with a high powered rifle at that..I bet it was a messy clean-up. The whole thing is disgusting.
and yea, the guy killed himself at the scene.

My prayers go out to the families of these unfortunate souls. Having retired from the RCMP in 1996, I do know that their families will receive support, solace and comfort from this wonderful organization.
GOD bless all of the wonderful individuals protecting our freedoms...
