I have recently joined DPC and have read the Rules for basic editing and was wondering What IS allowed and what is not.
I dont have any of the big name software programs just lots of free downloads (photoplus). I have seen a photos that have had all the color eliminated but yellow entered in basic editing. Is this possible? is it done by just adjusting the other tones to present a black & white image other then Yellow?
IF this is part of the changes you can make for basic editing, i need to work on my software editing more then my photo taking.
Is their a defined list of does and donts for basic, or is it just my lack of knowledge that prevents me from understanding the sites ruling.
thanks in advance for your replies.

Read this site tutorial to see how it can be done within the Basic Rules.

Just because you CAN do some strange stuff like desaturating all but one color channel under Basic Editing rules doesn't mean you HAVE to, or even that you OUGHT to. Go to the Challenge Archives and look at the winners of some of the basic challenges and you'll see that plenty of "real" photography scores very high. What you DO need to do is learn how to tweak your contrast and color saturation to maximize the the effect of your image, and (very importantly) how to resize and sharpen to present the image well in the 640-pixel challenge format. There are tutorials for this too.
Welcome, and have fun!
