For inspiration, I shall review //www.pbase.com/eminilia/arts , his photomanips are out of this world! Too bad this is a basic editing challenge but that puts more emphasis on the photography aspect than post processing... that's what the Ansel challenge is for ;)

The funny thing is, except for dodging and burning just about everything you'd do to "Anselize" an image is legal in basic editing, and if the image is well-seen to begin with it needs little dodging and burning. The Surrealism challenge, on the other hand, is gonna be a real bitch to do without the ability to spot-edit minor elements out. For example, getting anything "suspended" in space is gonna be real hard to do legally.

I already have the idea in mind! Just need to perform it. If it works, it's going to blast you all!

I was so Happy so see that this challenge is restricted to Basic editing. It is very easy to make a photo surreal with advanced editing. GOOD LUCK ALL

Probably my best example, but not legal even under advanced editting.

how would something like this place or do I need to go much further into the dark corners of my mind

It might work very well if you de-muddied the colors on the wall...

Would u consider this image to be surreal?
It's some sort of ilusion right?
But, still surreal?

It makes me think of Escher, so yes, I consider it surreal.
