I was asked to post up the original of my 70's psychedelic self-portrait, so here it is. I presume the irony of this is not lost on anyone: for "Self Portrait III" challenge I shot a water droplet,a nd for the next one, "70's", I shot an actual self portrait. Of course I morphed it beyond the point of sanity, but that's what my early 70's were like.
I confess to some disappointment that this image finished so low; I thought it was a very vivid depiction of a place/time/attitude, and stylistically spot-on. So it goes.
The image was actually submitted by someone for ratification, which didn't surprise me, but it's 100% legal. The ONLY adjustments are Levels and Curves. In curves I used the pencil tool to draw arbitrary lines, and that flipped colors like crazy. I think it's even int he spirit of the rules, in that I didn't "create" any shapes that aren't there; I just emphasized them and made them shout with hard edges, through the Curves control.

Very nice Robt. That certainly says 70s to me. 60's too.
Would have been cool to get someone with a large afro sillouetted in there... but perhaps that would have been too 60's. ;) |

I love using "funny-shaped" curves to change images around -- two or three of my entries have used it, but never as successfully as you did.
Here are a couple of galleries at pBase showing the use of this technique and Curves in general:

Oops, perhaps you didn't mean to infer you were high when you voted on this one.
