Hello all,
went to a stable on sunday and took some nice photos. It was a lovely Day, what do you think?

I have horses and know they are really tough to photograph. I also know stables usually have terrible lighting. I am just getting started at this photography thing but I do know horses.
Personally I like the one of the pony. it's a cute shot
The one of the white horse "playing" would of been cool if shot out side in the pasture.
The one of the horses eye was a good idea. I think it needed to be taken at a different angle or something. When looking for a good horse you look for a large eye, and this one looks little. Maybe if you stood alittle more towards the back of the horse (I am talking a foot or so)????
The smile shot is just to funny. I think I bought a birthday card for my dad that had that same shot on it.
I don't want to take over your thread but maybe people could post their site addresses if they have horse photos when they give you tips this way we can see other photos.
Thanks for the post, they were fun to see. |

Nice pictures Sandy, I like the one with the eye. Mug, you are absolutely right, horses are tough to photograph, much harder than I had tought. Thanks for the thread, it reminded me I took some shots about a month ago and never got back to them.

Thank you both! Yes, for me it was the first time ever being near horses and it does give you a gread deal of respect. That is also why I did not get closer with the eye ;)
Good idea to post more horses here, so people, show us what you've got! Post your horses! |

Took some at a friend's on the weekend, only edited this one so far. Found it really difficult to find good angles to get the shots, way different from taking dog pics!!!!

Hi Sue,
horses are gorgeous aren't they? I wasn't paying much attention to them before sunday.
Amazing creatures. Nice photo! |

They're magnificent!! I'm a bit wary of them though.....didn't go into the paddock as I had sandals on and didn't want to get stepped on.

Thanks for posting your pictures. I like the little pony hairdo the best. Apart from blue eye of course I would have cropped in on the others to get in closer to grab that extra detail. If possible different angles and lighting can do wonders. I love shooting racehorses and have a folder in my portfolio dedicated to the thoroughbred. They are magnificent animals. Here's my favourite pictured! - Lisa

Very nice! It shows you have taken photos of horses before :)
For me this was the very first time being around horses and I was like a little child, amazaed but wary obviously as you do not know how they react to certain things you do, like one of the horses did nmot like the flash at all |

I do some freelance work for our county paper and it made it in there as a full page. I was thrilled. This was weeks after I got my camera. I can't wait until this year when I can take some more of the kids showing.

Nice shots!
This is my first attempt at photographing horses. We went for a walk today, and saw them...really just a fluke for me. Feed back is welcome!
Sorry, I didn't know it was gonna be so LARGE...how do I post a clickable thumbnail, please?

Some great shots here. I really like sfboatright's picture.
Here is my only horse shot:
It's titled "Greener On The Other Side." The sun was directly behind so it got overexposed but I still like the shot.

They were watching me taking pics of an old school house. I have some pics in my old albums from when I was involved in the horse biz. this makes me want to go and look. Sad part is, that was back in the mid 80s and those lovely animals are no doubt long gone now.
