Anyone got any good tips for shooting a rock gig. Have got close enough so far, but either enough light and blurry or too dark, or with the flash on lose all colour from stage lights.

Hey... been trying to do a little of this myself. So far, the best advice I have for you is the obvious: Keep your aperture open fairly wide, and your shutter speeds at about 1/30 or faster. If you can adjust your ISO, keep it around 400 or even 800... the grain gets lost in the photos with the funky lights anyway, and it isn't anything you can't touch up in post-processing. Here's some shots I took last month at an Ember Swift concert:

I was seated in about the third or fourth row, and my lense only did 50mm. The rest is all cropping and photoshop. You can get pretty decent results if you try!

Oh, and it's a digital, so shoot a *lot* - I shot over 100 frames at this show, and this is most of what turned out.

Good luck!

it depend a lot on lighting, at most concerts, the lighting will switch colors. I have found that it is almost pointless to shoot when the lighting is any other color than white. White lighting allows you to speed up the shutter speed quite a bit and removes most motion blurring.

Years ago I used tungsten slide film and pushed it to 1600. Wonder if you can "push" in digital?
