The lighting is too harsh, needs to be diffused. Also the coat being slightly out of docus is distracting, would be much better without the coat altogether. The lack of background is a bit odd, too tight of a crop I'd say.
Would like to see more of the girl's hair, hand, face, and arm.
It looks as if it was cropped from a much larger picture, the detail and sharpness from a 10D is not apparent.
Hope that wasn't too harsh, it just looks too snapshotty. |

It was a snapshot. LOL. And I did crop it, but I also diffused it in order to soften it, I didn't want it sharp; and she's not wearing a coat. It's the sleave of her dress - so unless you want her nakid....it stays on. :)
Just wanted to show off my cute baby cousin.
The light comes from the onboard flash - no other lights in the room 'cept for dimmed overheads because we were watching my cousin's (her mom's) wedding tape.

Cute picture, but I think it may have been over-cropped. You probably couldn't have cropped it any less though.
I was wondering how you got that text to look like that in the bottom right.... |

Actually, it's an extreme crop, so I could have cropped it less...I like it this way though.
The text is a font I have on my computer, don't remember what the name of it right now is, as I'm at work, but I just streatched it horizontally by 150% and squashed it vertically by 80%

I meant at the time of taking, Photoshop can't improve softness of lighting... |

Hey Stephanie. You made it back from your vacation. Where did you go in Georgia? And where are the photos?

I wasn't referring to diffused light. I was referring to your comment about sharpness from a 10D not being apparent. That's becasue I softened it.

Vacation? It was a trip - vacation, definitely not the word for it. We went to Helen, which is about 2 hours north of Atlanta. We were told 1 hour. We didn't know it was a German town. We were told there'd be lots to do - there wasn't anything to do except eat Bratwurst, and Knockwurst - which, no thanks...The town apparently is known for Oktoberfest. It's February.
So we got there 11:50 at night (Atlanta) and had to drive to Helen - got lost, and got to the hotel at 3:00am
We saw the "town" on Saturday.
It rained on Sunday and Monday, and didn't get above 45 degrees.
We decided to drive down to Florida a couple days early, which was nice - but I did the whole drive there (12 hours) because of my friend's allergies which were exhaserbated by the smokers and the pets that apparently were in the room before us.
On Thursday I got sick, and did nothing but lay by the pool until Saturday night. Sunday we drove back to GA because Enterprise wanted to charge us $800.00 ($1.00/mile) to leave the car in Florida.
Monday we flew back to NY to snow.
I have some pictures which I'll post later tonight. Are you sorry you asked? LOL.
I'm going to Vancouver though in July, so I'll take lots of pictures.
I must say, that GA is beautiful...if I wasn't in such a bad mood, and we weren't in a rush to get to Florida, I would have stopped frequently to take pictures of the farm land - there were some great opportunities. The whole thing though was just a big let down because we were lied to about the town.
