Finally no rain here in San Diego and we got to go see the free flight at the Del Mar Bird and Animal Hospital.

Very cool place for anyone who likes to take pics of birds...I Suggest to any San Diegan who has not been there you have to check it out. For a dollar donation you go in to an aviary where the birds under their care sit about. Some are loney pets starving for attention...many talking birds...you can hold almost all of them...some don't want to get off once you put em on your shoulder.

BTW: All shot with the EF 50mm 1.8 MKII

You can't be afraid of birds cause they will get on you.

Make sure you have your UV on as they guy pecked at my Camera.

Some birds only like their owners this one kept making scary noises.

They got the big colorful ones and you can get in their face and they don't mind.

And if you speak bird it helps.

For a buck (donation) it is an excellent place to spend a couple of hours with some lonely birds. It is just past the Del Mar Fairgrounds on the right (headed for the beach).

Wow - thanks for sharing those. I wish I could go somewhere like that - I adore birds. At one time, I had a houseful of them. Great shots you came home with, and I am sure - a smile on your face!

Sure did, ya know I never really knew what birds owners saw in birds until I visited this place. Every bird in there would reach out to be held. Shawn had one in her arm and it curled up and let her pet it like a cat or dog, it was going asleep...

Just one visit to this place and I got a whole differnt feeling for these guys. I got a feeling I'll being going back (often).

Birds bond with "their humans" like little children if they are the only bird (at least in their cage). They think their human IS a bird. Mine were so loving. I had handfeds and I actually couldn't leave for home for a while becuase they are so dependent when they are young. They are awesome creatures, and I hope to have some more someday. I have really gotten into even watching wild birds now after all the beautiful photos I see of them here.
