The apple, cup, and kiwi look like they've been cut out and are just 'floating'. I know shadows are often considered as 'bad' things but they help with the three dimensional look of images and is why graphic artists spend many hours trying to create them. The two shots of the little girl with her eyes open are good and engage the viewer well. The one with her eyes closed dont really do much for me. I really like the door image - it's full of mystery and although not something new it could hold lots of new meanings for the different viewers.

I like Storytime quite a bit. It has a nice softness and though it's posed(I assume)it still maintains a candid quality.

OO! I enjoy your pics VERY much. I'm quite partial to all the little girl pics, especially in pink. I love them all!

I agree to your point about shadows. I am personally not happy with them either but I don't know how to create shadows in PS. Any guidence will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and kind remarks :)

Hi-ho,

I love your use of light in the door, although there seems to be something slightly odd with the door itself.. Was this shot with a wide angle lens? The top of the door appears to be 'bent' away from the camera a little compared to the bottom.. If this were square it would be a kepper for me.

And again your use of light with the girl is bang on the money... Is this window light, or a big soft-box with tapes on it? In the 'youth' shot I find the hot-spot in her hair, and the sticky-up-bit to be a bit distracting (Ribbon?) once I look there it's really noticable. The 'doubled up' writing in youth is also distracting, it'd work fine with a single colour I think..

I'm not sure about Moodville's comments on the eye contact. I like both of the 'upright' photos. They both have a calmness and innocence about them that is great. In 'Story Time' it's a little annoying to me that you've nipped her fingertip off, and the hint of a logo/patch on her left knee is titlating, I want to see more of it, or nothing at all...

Paige is my favorite of this lot... Even though you've lopped some fingers again:-).

Not personally a fan of the first two... Maybe too much PS? Not sure.

With the Kiwifruit, Kiwi1 has a 'fringe' around the bottom right side, maybe where you blended in the white background? And in kiwi2 the hot-spots that have a purple/magenta tint are distracting me a little.. These types of 'macro fruit' shots really work well if they have a stunning level of detail and sharpness.. To me these two fall short a little, even though they are technically quite good images..

Great work, thanks for sharing.

As always, just my 2c worth. :-)

yup, the little girl noticed me with camera and became conscious just when I was going to capture her innocent face while she was telling 3 bears story( which she was so cutely describing as " a big bear, a medium sized bear and the baby bear." lolz)

Creaing shadows is a basic tutorial on one way of doing it. I'm guessing the objects had natural shadows before they were deleted, though, and you could just use those.

Thank you so much for your time and words of encouragement. I took the door shot while still in the bed late this lazy Sunday morning. Before u ask, yes, I mostly keep my camera by bed side table for early morning sun rise shots & yes I was lazy enough not to come out of bed to take door picture properly. Lense is 28-200, not a wide angle.
For portraits, I only use natural light coming thru windows. Actually all my macro work is done in same light although I did buy speed light 800. I think I do have a tendency of tight cropping both both while selecting frame for shot and during post processing. I have to work on it. I will try fixing these photos again as suggested. Thanks again for your time and valuable suggestions.

Looking for critique and suggestions to improve the steaming tea cup shot. Have anyone captured steam over hot cup of tea/coffee successfully? If so, plz share your picture and wisdom. I have an idea in my mind but I am unable to capture it, and its bugging me alot. Both the background and steam are digitally altered in this shot and I am not really happy with it. Or should I say, although its my tea cup, but its not my cup of tea :)
Help plz

Ok, this is what I could do with the door so far. Any suggestions to improve further?
Also still need help with cofee cup shot. I don't like it myself :( but can't give it up like that (eh, photographers'OCD) I guess I am lacking creativity and really need lots of help to come up with a nice image.
