Can I take macro pictures with my Fujifilm FinePix S5000 Z?
Do they make an lens attachment or something? thanks. |

I love the S5000. I've had so much fun with mine. The 10x zomm is great.
But yes, you can do macro pictures with it. If you zoom a lot put it on macro (the simbol with the kind of flower).
here's some macro examples from my S5000. Not the closest in the world but not a bad deal, I think

And yes you can buy a wide angle or telephoto atatchment. But they are a bit expensive.

I HAD the S5000 until the focus selector button started sticking. They then upgraded me to the S5100. Both have an excellent Macro option. I've taken some pictures of my subjects from about 2 inches distance and they came out okay. Just be careful, if you get too close you start getting some distortion.
I took this picture from about 1-2 inches....
You can see the distortion I was talking about here.
I took this one less than a foot (I can't remember exactly how far) away from the subject (my daughter)

Here are a couple of examples from my old S5000z, most of the images on that site are taken with it in fact.
Very good macro capability, and i have to disagree about the distortion - the barrel distortion from the lens is minimal even at the widest angles... unless NathanW is referring to the inherent "distortion" of some parts of the subject being noticeably closer to the lens than others when you get near to your subject. Also i doubt that image was taken at "about 1-2 inches", as the s5000z's minimum focal distance is about 5 inches at least - and the first photo looks even further away than that.

I could be wrong about the focal length, but I know it was really close It was a couple months ago. |
