I have a compact flash card reader built into my computer and yesterday was the first time I transferred a lot of files from the card to the computer. 350 files (total almost 1GB) took over 25 minutes to transfer. Is this normal or does it seem very slow? Does everyone else have to wait that kind of time or is there a better way? thanks.

sounds like a USB 1.0 reader
My UBS 2.0 reader takes about 5-7 min for a gig, i really need to get a firewire reader now that I have 2 gig cards |

I use a USB - 2 card reader , It works great , but you must have USB 2 port on your computer |

For reference, this page provides reliable numbers for card-to-computer xfer using the fastest available reader (see the italicized text for some very specific, and valuable, insight on card reader speed).
It's possible to get speeds just over 10MB/s with the fastest cards, so 1GB should take under 2 minutes. I run a USB 2.0 reader, and it's certainly not that fast. Also thinking about a firewire reader.
