agreed- text would be good.
02/26/2005 01:45:18 AM · #7
oooo, i want text!
02/26/2005 02:05:56 AM · #8
Since I feel a lack of text in the mag cover challenge definietly had a negative effect on my score, I'll add to the request for text.

Images meant to be seen with text just aren't viewed the same way without it.

Text please!!! 48 hours - but on March 4th, what gives?
02/26/2005 03:11:59 AM · #10
i don't get it. why would you need to add text to the photo? what exactly would it say? "this is a billboard"? I'm confused..
02/26/2005 03:13:44 AM · #11
wait. I read the challenge wrong. I thought we were supposed to take a photo of an actual billboard. Like Road Signs. So we're supposed to take a photo of an image that MIGHT be on a billboard, advertising something?

That's much cooler than i thought. In that case, text would be nice. But I guess that's what the title's for.

The challenge will end 48hrs after it started - the 4th March date is an error and will probably be corrected as soon as D&L see it this morning.

I'll chime in here, Text would be good.

it would be A bit harsh to add text to the rules now. There are different time zones so some will have see this and gone out for the day, with a view to taking photographs.. It the weekend after all.

its 9:30 in the UK and we are the latest European time, so other will be thinking about lunch soon.....

Many things can be said without words!
I'm against adding text to it!
02/26/2005 05:43:24 AM · #18
Text would be good similiar to the Album Cover challenge but it's probably to late now.
It gives members a chance to be creative without the constraints of peoples interpretation of the challenge description.

edit late night

That's why it's already been posted at the challenge note, to use the title as the description/message for the picture/billdoard.

an image itself can have one too many interpretations, but the title will direct the voter into the right way! All it takes is a bit of creativity!

I'm voting against text as well. I'd hate to see poor typography ruin a wonderful photograph. The image should be able to stand on it's own and convey the message. An appropriate title should be enough imho.

Is it within the rules to print out the words you wanted to use and photograph them, eg a still life and the printed words next to it etc?
02/26/2005 06:01:53 AM · #22
Yes,added text would be really nice, but for people who aren't "graphic designers" it would be more difficult.

As long as u don't add it on photoshop or any other editing program, go for it!

I don't see why. It's like any other challenge, but this one is more of the "advertising" kind of challenge! Try to shoot something that can actually tell you something! Have some ppl take a look at it, ask them what they understand of it! If you can lead them into the right way, just by looking at ur picture, you should do good!

Take my word for it, i'm into advertising! Graduated and all......
