Was anyone as shocked as me at the simple minded lambastering today of the dignified russian president by the "smiling terrorist" G W, and in awe of his politeness in the face of such arrogance?

Any political school of thought so drunk with richeous zeal and international influence is surely a most dangerous force.

Russian democracy is an evolving process that does not feel the need to export it's doctrine.

Power is nothing without control.

I don't quite get what you're saying. who was simple-minded, bush or the other guy? Which one was arrogant?

From Fibonacci's post it's pretty apparent whom he found to be offensive, and it wasn't Putin.

I think this is what he is talking about....but not really sure what the point is.

Wasn't apparent for me -- that's why I asked. But thanks for going out of your way to help me understand who he was talking about -- you've been really helpful.

Sure thing, anytime. Not to be snide about it, but I guess aiming to understand what peeps mean comes sorta naturally to those that have had to pick up a second language. I'm very cognizant of what it is that people are "trying to say."

Hmm is this based on US democratic principles? Liberty and Justic for all?

that's harsh...I'm definately not sharring my views on that one as I am trying to make it a point to not stir things up.

Oh come on! This is a virtual community and, as such, it cannot progress unless challenged. Jump in, the worst that can happen is that someone will disagree with you. And, online, the consequences are relatively minor... now, if we were at a bar, and drinks were flying... well, then I might advise to control your tongue just a bit... otherwise, what's the harm?

Because...I'm not going to stir people up...I don't think this is the place to be discussing political or race-related views -- rant forum or not. The truth is my views would probably earn me a spot at the very bottom of most of the community here. I'm fine with that, and as such, I choose not to share my views.

I do, however, think it's unecessary to call a leader of any nation arrogant or simple-minded though. Yes, it's your right to have your own feelings, and everyone does. But there comes a time when you want to display your feelings to everyone and a time when your feelings should just be kept at the dinner table with close friends or relatives.

As far as the 'consequenses' being relatively minor, you don't know me very well. I'd much rather tell a person what I think of them, any aspect of them, their feelings, or the way they conveyed their feelings that I disagree with at a bar where something could be done about it if that person so desired to do something about it.

This community is a nice place to hang out. Like I said -- I don't see the need to get into it online with a bunch of people I respect, and hope that I will some day have their respect as well. Everyone shares different views all the time...and I've never been good at expressing my views in a non-condescending manner.

Well, that's honest and sensible, deapee. Clap, clap... personally i see no reason whatsoever for us to engage in political discussion on this site, and I've stayed out of it, for much the same reasons as you. There are plenty of places to go for that.

Robt.

Well, it's kinda hard to disagree with that...
