If the age shown on your profile is accurate,,, you would have enjoyed the latter part of the 60's whilst in your teens right. Could it be that your enjoyment may have been attributable to your age and not so much the prevailing social conditions.

I too enjoyed the 60's but much preferred the 70's, probably because of all the changes that occured.

For me at least the 60s were a time of both great change and optimism. Even with the war going on we were optimistic that we would change the world for the better, end racism, end hunger clean the environment. It was also the time we were first going in to space, in that short 10 years we went from nothing to getting a man on the moon. It was in the 70s that we realized that there was still racism, still hunger and it was the time of Love Canal. For me the 70s was the time that it became clear that as a generation we were going to fail at most of our goals for a better world.
